slices of weekend.

On Friday night, I joined Rufus and his workmates for free drinks at The Elephant. Much, much fun was had. I laughed so hard that my guts hurt - multiple times. He has some pretty cool friends.

I worked all day Saturday, but when I came home, we ate Noodle Box on the couch, watched Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, and drank tea with my favourite honey (below). It made the entire day an awesome one. Sometimes it really is the simplest things that make you happiest.

(Yep. We got those family stickers; and I am proud.) We started Sunday with a couples' run along the beach - 6.5km, thanks. I made bircher muesli for breakfast while Rufus had a bacon-egg-haloumi feast; and then we sampled our way around the farmers' market. The sunshine was so warm, and the peaches were so sweet... It was pretty much the perfect morning. I absolutely love the fact that we have our apple guys, our fritz guys, our egg guy, and that the lady that works in the coffee cart knows me by name.

On Sunday night, we headed to my parents' place for a family barbecue. We sat outside and ate plenty of food (as always) and laughed until our cheeks hurt (as always). I really do have a wonderful family.

This is my parents' little cat Kimba. She is quite possibly the coolest cat I've ever met (her sister Pikachu is so pretty, but definitely doesn't have the same sweet temperament). She was bitten by a Red Bellied Black Snake on Friday and for a while I was so unbelievably worried that she'd die. It was lucky that my Mum found her - frothing at the mouth, paralysed on the lounge room floor - and took her to the vet as quickly as she did. We saw her on Sunday, and she was back to her old self - I took this photo of Kimba prancing through the herb garden as we stood marvelling at the growing cucumbers.

Friends, food, family, work, play, rest... This weekend was awesome. How was yours?
I'd love to know - what defines your idea of a perfect weekend?
